Design House

This proposal involved a quite attractive and challenging area: nearby stands the Town Council and at a distance is the famous cable car station. And, of course, there is the presence of the legendary original Tatras architecture that still nurtures various sentimental tendencies. However, the Design House hotel has not been allowed to become part of the myths of the Tatras; rather it has chosen a quite contemporary style of artistic expression. But the era of Tatras development still influenced the building. This is mainly seen through the impact of the famous medical houses of the so-called climatic spas of the interwar era, where patients were treated by inhalation of fresh alpine air on large terraces. The Design House works with a similarly strong element - a regular rhythm of deep balconies. The south-facing wall facade is made of timber, while the rugged northern side is made of raw concrete.
