Congress Center

This was part of a plan to accumulate governmental offices in the center of Bratislava near the presidential palace. Forum Hotel (now Crowne Plaza), which stands opposite, was supposed to offer accommodation for participants of governmental and inter-state negotiations. These should have taken place on the grounds of the new congress building planned in the neighborhood around Tatracentrum. This venue for the highest level meetings and appointments ambitiously manipulated the effect of transparent facade. A larger volume of glass-coated shell with industrial elements surrounded another, smaller structure containing a congress hall. On the street, one of the main thoroughfares and lively pedestrian streets of the town, a glass façade of a congress center was supposed to have supported a projection on a mega-screen, and so, at least symbolically have become a public issue.
